Lord, teach us to pray.

Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray...” Luke 11: 1.

The disciples of Jesus knew about prayer.  After all, the Jews were skilled at praying because prayer was very much a part of the Jewish religion and culture.

But then these men spent time with Jesus.  And they saw how he prayed. And the prayers of Jesus, to God the Father, impacted them deeply.

Consequently, they were no longer content with the way they were praying.  So, on behalf of them all, one of the disciples asked Jesus: “Lord, teach us to pray.”

So, as we enter into our 14 Days of Prayer and Fasting let us also ask Jesus to teach us how to pray.

Let’s not settle for our average prayers.  Let’s not pray just the same as always.  But let’s push into GOD…pray fervently and ask Jesus to help us grow in prayer…so that we emerge from these 14 days with a fresh new prayer life. Lord, teach us to pray!
