Palm Sunday 2022

He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1: 11 & 12.

2000 years ago, on that very first Palm Sunday, Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem on a young Donkey.  The people waved palm branches, they laid their coats on the road and they shouted Hosanna!  This was a hero’s welcome.

Once inside Jerusalem, Jesus went straight to the Temple…the heart of the nation. And he challenged the evil activities that were taking place in the Temple. But the people did not want to change their behaviour.  So, they rejected Jesus. One week later, those same people shouted ‘Crucify Him!’  Jerusalem was finally destroyed by the Romans 40 years later.

Jesus Christ did not come into the world to receive a shallow hero’s welcome.  Jesus Christ came into the world to rescue us from our evil ways and make us right with God.

This Palm Sunday, open your whole heart…every area…to the King of Kings, Jesus Christ, and let him rescue you.
