SESSION TWO

Discipleship Demonstrated

"GIVING"

FORGE: A Movie  on Biblical Discipleship

About the Session:  Discipleship Demonstrated

I would like to call this session: "Discipleship Demonstrated". Watch and Learn. Let us us prayerfully sit back and enjoy a 20 mins slice of this movie. There is so much in this inspiring movie that powerfully serves as a model for discipleship. You can either watch the 20 mins uninterrupted or stop it as several points and facilate the discussion questions suggested.

Study (Resource) Pack Session TWO Forge

The NOTES below are often detailed...BUT don't feel overloaded or overwhelmed- Use if freely according to your style and taste. Be Blessed and led by the Holy Spirit.

A voice is so much better than text some times.....Listen to this audio while viewing your primary set of notes.

I plan to pause the movie at several points (7x) and then discuss as mentioned in the notes. You can however, watch the whole movie for 20 mins if that is easier and then discuss the different examples of discipleship as that maybe easier.

CG Leaders will get a 1 x Sample Hard Copy. If CG members like a copy they can download it.

If we want to put ACTION to our words- Check out the Challenge WORKBOOK. Great to do at your own time @ home.

Discipleship Examples :

Which of the three stages of discipleship is this clip? Being/Following a Disciple.  Mr Moore introduces Isaiah to the workplace and a community: Janelle, His wife, His Trainer, Cody (Robot Engineer).

Talk on what is discipleship between Mum and Son: Isaiah says: “I ain’t hiding from GOD”. “GOD can come find me if he wants”. Discuss Isaiah’s mindset. Do we hide from God? Man has been hiding from GOD ever since the garden of Eden. How often does Mr Moore “intentionally” plan to meet Isaiah in his “Mentoring” program? ( 2 x week). Can we prayerfully consider this example? Who else had Mr Moore poured into? (Uncle Tony- We will meet him later in the movie).

Consider what the Bible has to say on Respect, Authority and Submission? How should we treat others?

Mum warns him to get to bed- after midnight. Isaiah sleeps in- 45 mins late and only his 3rd day at work.

A lukewarm breakfast. Can this be a picture of Isaiah’s heart? What does the Bible say about lukewarm hearts? What is the main responsibility of a man? (To Show Up). What does missed commitments reflect? What is our culture towards attending Connect Groups? There are three words that are brewing in my Spirit and are being cross examined in the Spirit for now: “Commit, Communicate, Come”. Commit to attending a small group, Communicate (while many/most of us do this, many don’t- I think it's great to intentionally create a culture and encourage people to RSVP. It is respectful and courteous), Come is just “Show Up”. (*In DIG page, you can encourage members to RSVP online. Great for New Comers, but existing members can use it too) “Commitment”: This is the key word for CG Leaders too - See our Commitment Statements. Mrs Moore later in the movie towards the end of this clip says- We are not just Christians. We are devoted (committed) to Jesus! Are you giving Jesus a portion- or your ALL?

Cynthia + Girl friends + Sister Elizabeth + Ms Clare connect in Hair Salon/Prayer Salon. Ms Clare: “Prayer is not a spare tyre, but a steering wheel” Discuss. (not just for emergencies, but a constant connection- See Sunday’s message- “Prayer continuously”). They pray for Isaiah to “open” his eyes and embrace responsibility and see the need for Jesus. Testimony: On Sunday, the Church was packed. Our family friends joined us and came in late and they pulled out chairs for the back seat. We were already seated. I told my daughter, do you want to sit with your friend- so I took her to the back and saw a man there who walked in. There was no chair for him so I offered to bring a chair for him and later at the end of the service I got to pray for him (Henry) that his eyes may see clearly. I prayed that like Saul he would see Jesus and that every demonic, dark and evil deposit in him would flee. WOW! Like Isaiah may his eyes open and he be set free!

Hot breakfast: Do you think this breakfast reflects the temperature of Isaiah’s heart? GOD is working and tugging on Isaiah's heart. Read Gal 5: 13-14 & verses 22 & 23 and discuss what does freedom in Christ lead to? Mr Moore invites Isiah to a Community Outreach Event and also later to dinner at his home…Could this be a picture of a lost son returning to a spiritual home? The seeds have been planted….a soul is now ready to RECEIVE Jesus!
