Study Quesions for Session 3

As we look at the Vinedresser, the Branches and the Harvest we unpack important laws of the Vineyard of Spiritual pruning.

The Vinedresser

What are the two Greek verbs in John 15:1-2? (The Greek verb used here in v 2 for "takes away" or "cuts off" is airo. Throughout the New Testament, airo literally means "to lift up, raise high, or elevate." How does this change the way you read this verse? )

What are the two types of branches in v 2 and what is common about them? (They are both in HIM).

What is the first law of the Vineyard and how do we see this in Job's life?

Possessed 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, and 500 donkeys.

Blessed with seven sons, three daughters, a massive household, and immense social respect as the greatest man in the East.: Marauders and natural disasters wiped out all his livestock, servants, and all ten of his children in a single day. This radical subtraction proved that Job’s faith was rooted in God Himself, not merely in God's gifts.

Is GOD airo-ing you? (lifting you up from the mud/dirt) or Kathairo -ing you?(cleansing you or pruning you?

CHALLENGE: Shift your Vocabulary

The Branches

What is the second law of the Vineyard?

In Judges 7, we see GOD substraction strategy unfold. What two groups of people were not selected. These groups you could say lacked real fruit- the fruit of faith and spiritually ready/alert/diligent.

While the first group is easy to understand as why they were not selected. What was wrong with the second group?

Those who had  fear (22,000) and were spiritually negligent (9,700 men). Only 300 men were filled with faith and spirtually deligent.

What kind of branch are you? (There are actually 3 types of branches in John 15:)

CHALLENGE: Target the Overgrowth

The Harvest

What is the third law of the Harvest?

Read Matt 14:19 see the progression: Ownership/Sanctification/Substraction or Pruning/ Multiplication.

CHALLENGE: Plant the Vision!

Our 2 Priorities (Communication Note 12 Aug)

  2. Raise New CG Leaders

What New CG Leaders Can Do? These are suggesions. Your feedback is valued.

(Goal:  Making themselves known and building their CG Family)

  1. Be in the Connect Lounge after the Service regularly.

  2. Door Greeters (unofficially.. Not rostered)

  3. Wear their Connect Shirt (when they do (1) and (2). (Coordinator to action)

  4. Connect with those doing Alpha one evening.(Towards end of Alpha course)

How Other CG Leaders can support:

(Sharing of information - informal/causal discussion)

  1. Brainstorm and think if there's anyone that would suit the New CG Leader.

  2. Brainstorm and think who you can recommend who could be a CG Leader and please start sharing names by private messaging CG Coordinator (Me 😂)

Feedback about handouts. Please ask again if attendees need handouts for the other sessions (Total pages printed for 5 sessions is like 500 pages doublesided). Am insterstate and unable to do this for session 2- aplogies.

How to Cast the Video: Go to the specific video eg "Be Rooted & Nourished", click on youtube icon on that video and then you open into Youtube channel. Now, look for the "Casting" icon and then cast to your TV screen. If Youtube transcripts pop up click CC to take them off as I have already created transcripts and the two transcripts will overlap.

Finally please maintain your folders. I will ask for them back at the end of the term and create a new set of notes for the upcoming term.
